Danville Youth
Football is a nonprofit, volunteer
organization originating from the need to
reverse declining youth football
participation and of a desire to improve
youth football for Danville's children.
-
DYF operates under
the Danville High School Athletic
Department. DYF is staffed completely by
volunteers,
consisting of longtime Danville Football
supporters, former and current youth,
middle school and high school coaches,
former DHS football players and current
parents of DYF participants. In this
way, Danville Youth Football will be
administered by a group of people with a
personal, heartfelt interest in the
organizations success.
-
Teams will
no longer be organized by school, which
is no longer feasible given current
minimal participation levels. Instead
all participants will be pooled to make
one Danville team at each age division.
This will allow Danville's children to
be more competitive, which is a
challenge when rosters run slim. Should
participation warrant more than one
team, a draft system will be employed to
fairly create teams.
-
A Mighty
Mite division for ages 6 & 7 will be
introduced as an instructional league
with emphasis on providing an
overwhelmingly positive football
experience for participants. This will
allow football to compete with other
youth sports, all of which allow
opportunities years before football has
ever been available in Danville.
-
A Pee Wee division for 8
& 9 year olds will allow this age group
to participate without being on the same
team as 12 year olds.
-
Full
equipment provided for all participants.
Other than shoes, an entire football or
cheer uniform will be furnished to each
participant. Many organizations do
not provide football pants in order to
cut costs. This passes additional
cost on to parents or generates a need
for individual team fund raising.
-
All
volunteers will have a criminal
background check and must meet the
teacher disqualification requirements of
the Danville Independent School System.
-
All head coaches
and as many assistant coaches as
possible
will have current CPR and first aid
certification.
-
All head football
coaches and as many assistant coaches as
possible will complete a coaching clinic
instructed by DHS head football
coach Sam Harp.
While
registration fees and fundraising events
cover some of our expenses, DYF is equally
dependent upon Sponsorships to meet our
budget. Please consider the DYF sponsorship
options below. All donations are tax
deductible and will go a long way in
providing a top level youth football and
cheer program for Danville's children.
